Why your business is not showing on Google Maps
You are verified, the listing looks fine, and you still cannot find yourself. Usually it is one of nine things - and most are fixable the same day.

"I am on Google but nobody finds me" is the most common thing owners tell us. Here is the checklist we work through, roughly in order of how often each one turns out to be the answer.
1. You are searching from your own shop
Google personalises heavily. Searching your own business name, from your own phone, standing inside your shop, tells you almost nothing. Ask someone across town to search the category, not your name.
2. You are not verified
An unverified listing can exist and still be held back. Check for the verification badge in your profile dashboard.
3. Your category is too broad
"Restaurant" puts you in a pool with every eating place in the city. "Bengali restaurant" puts you in a much smaller, much more winnable one - if it is accurate. Only ever pick a category that genuinely describes you.
4. You are outside the search radius
Google Maps results are heavily distance-based. You will not appear for someone eight kilometres away searching "near me", and no amount of optimisation changes that. Check where you do appear rather than whether you appear everywhere.
5. Your profile is half empty
Missing hours, no description, three photos from 2021. A thin profile has less to match against.
6. There is a duplicate listing
Two records for one business splits reviews and signals. Search your name and address carefully; report duplicates through the profile.
7. Your details disagree across the web
If JustDial says one phone number, your website says another, and Google says a third, you have three versions of your business online. Fixing that is dull work and it matters. See why NAP consistency matters.
8. You have very few reviews
Reviews are one of the things Google can see. A business with four reviews and one with four hundred are not competing on level ground. Asking properly is the fix - here is how to ask without it being awkward.
9. You were suspended and did not notice
Suspensions happen for name-stuffing, a wrong address, or a category mismatch. Check for a notice in your dashboard.
